One piece of advice

there is lots of tips and advice available on here, and lots of people have different opinions on each matter.

But if you could only offer ONE piece of advice to anyone who is due to arrive in Australia what would it be?

Lets not fight over what each person offers, just give your tip and move on ;)

Leave your home country behind, keep in touch with your loved ones, freinds and memories and most importantly yourself but through yourself into your new life because that's exactly what it is ;)

Enjoy

Accept Australia for what it is..........a country in its own right (and not UK with sun) and that things will be done differently.

Dont lose yourself in the mundane.....

I know you will be wanting to set up your life right away and will be rushing around to try and get everything done in the first day....but guess what? You dont need to!! Take your time....enjoy the newness of everything, ask lots of questions and look at it as an adventure of discovery....

Expect to feel homesick and to have your ups and downs but keep strong and remember why you came to Oz.

Dont go on about what the place has NOT got, eg: food, shops,
look at what the place has to offer, and enjoy.
It really is a wonderful country. And we are so lucky to get a chance to build a life here.

It may sound funny but I would say if you've got kids invest in a DVD player for the car to keep them occupied while you are driving around suburbs.

When we first got here our toddler was a nightmare in the car and we rushed into choosing which suburb we ended up in. Luckily we do like the area but I do regret not driving around more of Adelaide first. We invested in a DVD player a few months ago and she is a different person in the car now.

Absolutely agree, our 3 would fight and argue, we got a dvd and its so peaceful in the back now.
Some cars have them fitted as standard, ours could have, but we chose not to, i wish we had.

If you've got a house in the UK try not to sell it.
