Is it ok to take medicals before they're requested?

Hi

We're almost 4 months since our application went in to Adelaide (ICT) have since been requested and sent further full copies of birth certificates.

We're expecting a request fo medicals soon, is it ok to have them before we're asked for them?

How long do they last for - I think its a year.

Thanks

Rem

They are valid for one year from date of issue.

Bear in mind that you have to go to certain Doctors to get them done. I waitied until I was instructed to go for a medical and chose a Doctor from the approved list they sent me.

There are differences of opinion over whether you should get your medical ASAP or wait til you are instructed. I really couldn't say if it will speed things up or not. I waited until I was told and it didn't slow me down.

The approved list of doctors for the medical checks is listed here:

http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/doctors/index.htm

There are also accompanying notes regarding the medical tests.

Cheers,
Peter

Hi,

Even more so - the date set for you to enter Australia in order to validate the PR
visa should be within the validity of your medicals AND police check, so the
sooner you take them the shorter period you'll have to enter Australia once your
PR is granted.

So to make it clear - you probably better wait until you are requested.

(I'm not an expert, just waiting to be asked for my medicals and police checks,
like you).
