Being interviewed next week for a nurses position in queensland as my other half does not have work to go out to we will have to live on the one wage initially. we have very little savings and 3 children can anyone advise wether we will cope on around $2700 a fornight or is this too tight to manage.

Not aimed at anyone specifically, but for what it's worth friends on the Gold Coast with one chiled have managed for many years on around 40-50K. They own 2 properties on this thanks to scrimping & saving as hard as possible, admittedly bought a few years back when property was significantly cheaper.
But if they can manage (And niether of them are qualified past High School) then I figure most of us can.

I think you will be alright on that - we currently get around $2200 on average and manage fine. Although you will have to be a bit more careful than us as it can be expensive at first, mainly because there's things you will need to buy that we wouldn't and also it takes a while to figure out where the best places to go for deals are, so things like grocery shopping can be expensive at first. But it can be done

Its almost twice as much as a MP gets in Victoria, its also probably more than the State Premiers earn... So yes it is a high wage lol. People that earn that kind of money dont generally migrate... although they do travel from country to country... there are a couple of blokes like that on the CPFC boards believe it or not. One of them in my time on there has moved around working in at least 4 countries that I know of, over the last 9 years... including a stints in NZ and America

That kind of salary is not uncommon in Perth - and not just among senior management either.

That works out approx $1350 per week after tax, that assumes you are single and do not have private health cover.

Whether or not that is a good wage really depends, and because I do not live in Sydney I can't really say.

I based it on the assumption that you were single, so took an extra 1% medicare levy off your total income (or $1,000).

If you are a family you can have a combined income of $100k before you pay the extra levy, or more if you have children. http://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/co....htm&page=6&H6

You are also exempt if you have private Hospital Cover.

It's always a good idea to employ a tax accountant in your first year as they will know all the ins and outs - plus you get to claim it through your tax return the following year

Hi all

I am married with 2-year-old triplets and have been offered a job in Perth for $93,389 (including super) which breaks down to about $85,000 after super but before tax, medicare etc.

Is this reasonable? Livable?

Any advice most appreciated.

Cheers
