I believe the going rate is $25-$30 per hour and the working week is 35 -40 hours, depending on heat.

The rates in Brisbane will be similar and Sunshine Coast around $23 -$28

Hope this helps you

Not that I know of, grab hold of the yellow pages from Australia Post as soon as you land. Thats what we did and Gary (a joiner) started work within 3 weeks of us landing.

Question Re: the official jobs/wages thread...

Hi,

Does anyone have any knowledge/experience of working for the Water Authorities out there or private water industry consultancy's? I currently work as a Project Manager and have 7 years experience in the water industry (clean water distribution)and would like to find out if my skills/experience would be in demand and what salary's are like?

Ta!

I have been offered a job in Brisbane, paying $1560 per week. We are planning to rent a house in one of the southern suburbs, maybe $200-250/week.

Does this leave enough to live on in Brisbane...? We have 3 kids aged 4, 2 and 1.

My hubby brings home about $1000 on average after tax per week and we manage just fine. Our rent is $280 per week, but we only have 2 kids (aged 7 and 14).

It all depends on what type of lifestyle you want really.

Youll be looking at around $50 - $60k per year for a maintenance sparkie once licenced.

Can't help with the TA job though I'm afraid
