bricklaying jobs are plentiful for a good brickie.

Adverts in the Western Australia on a Saturday or just walk onto any building site and ask.

In South Australia an Electrician can expect to earn between $20 and $25 per hour working for an employer once they are fully licenced. Casual workers can expect to get another 25% on top of that to cover the lack of sick/holiday pay etc.

Of course, a contractor could probably get more, but we haven't looked into that much just yet as it's still early days for us. I do know though that they charge $5 a point for a new build and expect to do about 100 per day (2 houses) when there is enough work.
I am hoping to move to oz (wa) I am a self employed electrician in uk, how do you go on about getting a "class a" trade certificate . I have got a general electrician approval from TRA.
Is there lot of work in oz:

Hi

Best places to start are here http://britishexpats.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=97

and here http://www.workplace.gov.au/workplac...nresidents.htm

It really depends on where you are settling as to what you have to do to get your licence, every state has different systems. South Australia is the easiest though.

There is lots of work here, not sure about the other states but I have heard that there are load of jobs in Queensland and Western Australia as well.

Take note that you will have to have another assessment from the TRA when you get here to convert your qualifications/experience into an ARTC certificate. You need this to qualify to apply for a licence. You only need to send the same stuff again with maybe an up to date reference if you can. Any more questions ask on the forum I've given you above and someone will be able to help you out more.

Hi there.
is anyone on here working as a Social Worker in Brisbane who would know what the job opportunities are and the salaries? Me and the OH are new to the site, we have our 136 Visa's and hope to get there as soon as we have secured some employment either for him as a Cad Drawer or me as a Social Worker. We have spent hours looking on the net but like many people say, the jobs are not all real when it comes to enquiries about them.

I will start as a Constable in Qld on about 58K (Supposing I get in!) - that doesn't include overtime. The pay includes 20% added for working shifts and national holidays. Not sure what the top ranks get paid but Ch Superintendant gets about 120K basic. Reckon a Commissioner must be on a hefty wage!!! Might be setting my sights a bit high there though!!!!
Sgt gets 70-85K, Inspector 90-100, Superintendant 100-110. I'm assuming that from Insp upward there is no shift allowance added as the basic wage jumps 20K from senior Sgt to Insp.
I'll be taking a pay cut but I'm not making the move in order to better my career - continue it yes but not better it. If I was after money I'd be staying put and getting promotion
