Suggest you use Seek.com but dont take the first job offer or advice from agent your rate will change with local knowledge (and once you build up some contacts).

Hello!
I was just wondering how much a person in Coles/Safeway got for checkouts/shopfloor work? When we eventually go I just want a basic part time job that you walk in, do the job and go home until I can sort everything else out. Any ideas on hourly pay?

I'm annoyed that I dont know the answer to this, I do know that Safeway will employ any age group and both genders.
I'll find out and report back.
I'm going to guess at this stage, from 8 dollars, for a 16 YO, through to 15 bucks per hour for an Adult, will confirm soon.

I am a teaching assistant here in U.K specialising in Secondary Autism intervention - making sure children with Autism are successful in mainstream secondary education as many are excluded for behaviour.
Anyway.....I have slightly researched this area but need to change my terminology to the Aussie equivalent which will take time.
I will send some lovely K for your assistance

Not bad at all, I guess the downside is, it wouldn't be full time, and probably very irregular hours. But as its considered the bottom end of the market, it's quite a decent wage.
BTW, there are plenty of jobs around at present as well.

Currently its 15.80 per hour, going up to 16.05 next week. Apparently thats the minimum a mature aged person can earn at any Safeway around Aussie. After 6.00 pm, the rate goes up to Aud 18.90, with weekend sunday rates currently coming in at 27.00 dollars per hour.

Re: the official jobs/wages thread...
Myself and husband are heading over to the Sydney area about April 07 (ish). He currently works as a site manager for a housing company but is a carpenter by trade. Does anyone know what the money is like for carpenters around Sydney? Or are there any site managers out there who could give some advice on wages/work availability? Thanks
