Default ODP/Anaesthetic Tech Student Placement for UK student in Oz

Hi,

I'm a first year student studying for a BSc in Operating Department Practice at Glasgow Caledonian University.

I'd love to do an anaesthetics placement in a hospital in Australia in my third year, though as my university don't do placements abroad for this particular course, I'll have to find the placement myself.

I just wondered if anyone here has done anything similar in the past, or knows how to go about finding a hospital that would consider taking me on.

Many thanks
Ashley

Ashley, never had to do this myself, but thinking about it you might need to see what Visa you would be eligible for first - might need to consult a reputable Migration Agent for options. I don't think being a student, and unqualified, you will get in on a Skills Visa. Student Visa possibly, but again, consult and agent as DIAC constantly review and change visas and eligibility requirements in line with new government policy.

Google search and find the addresses of teaching hospitals in whichever location you want to go and start writing to them now and see if they would be able to accept you over a local student.

Hope this helps.
