i've done it, you need to get your trade recogised as being up to oz certificate level 3 in bricklaying first. Then you have to complete the 1261 residential building studies certificate 4 course with TAFE. This is a 2 year part time course. Licence can then be applied for for up to 2 storey buildings. If u wanna work bigger need diploma takes another 2 years college part time. In NSW you have to work forlicenced builder 1 year after course but I am not sure if this is also case in qld!? Good luck!
Ps: u can do the course by post before you go with OTEN in NSW or Qld open learning. I had 10 years experience behind me and found most of course easy.
