For NZ - Things to do list & lots of links

Hi,
I've just created a website where I'm writing all the stuff I'm learning about emigrating to NZ from the UK.
It's continually evolving as I learn more & hopefully as others contribute their ideas.

The main NZ page is here:
http://www.angelfire.com/hi5/neuraln...and/index.html

The two most useful pages are "Things to do list" and "New Zealand Links".

The "Miscellaneous Guides" is growing as I learn !!!

If you're confused by the NZIS site, you could try my summaries and links pages.

I would particularly like the experiences of people who have shipped pets out themselves (ie not used pet companies), so I can write a guide for that.

I hope this helps a few people.

Cheers

Steve

Re the pets thing - it very very very very hard to do it all yourself as the airlines won't take bookings from your average citizen (beleive me I tried)

The best you can do is just pay the shippers for the actual shipping and the box and do everything else yourself - but it is not actually too much cheaper - my dogs' bloods cost more than they would have if we had used the shippers but we saved on a month in kennels! And it is a lot of too-ing and fro-ing.

If you want any more specific info, PM me and I will do my best to help.

Jack Daws,
Thanks for that.

Pollster,
Thanks for that, although a bit depressing.
I can't see the point of paying someone to take our dog to the cargo terminal & charge me, when I can do it myself !
You obviously feel/felt the same.

I'd like to keep this thread available to everyone, to see if anyone has succeeded.

Which airlines have you tried ?
Did you find out why they are reluntant to accept personal bookings ?

I have read posts of people who did succeed, but the airlines/regulators seem to be trying to avoid killing our pets !!!
Making things more difficult.

Cheers

Steve

Hi Guys,
For those interested in New Zealand.
My website has gained lots of links, and some guides that I've written based mainly on what members of this forum and 'elsewhere' have said.

Some of the things will be relevant to those going to Aus, but I'm afraid you'll just have to look for them.

I make no money from it, but hope it helps others.
I thought it was worth pushing this thread to the top for new members who may have missed it.

Here are few example links to wet your appetite !

Rangiora town (north west of Christchurch) virtual tour

For the Canterbury region (with colour aerial photos).

Red FM - 'Dance' (Good quality sound) - My personal favourite - TECHNO

Good luck to you all, where ever you're trying to go.
