NZ process times

I.ve just been informed that the people at the business migration unit in Wellington are currently working on visa applications that were recieved April/May 2002.This means a huge backlog and long processing times. This info was given to me by a migration agency here in the UK (apparently letters have been sent out to various migration agencies). Can anyone shed any light on this as when I spoke to the business unit just a few weeks ago they said it was only taking 3 to 4 months to process visa's. How can this change so drastically and who is telling the truth? I have phoned the migration unit again both in New Zealand and the UK and they are giving me conflicting answers!

THE TRUTH MUST BE OUT THERE!

I've found the answer myself ,so for anyone who's interested the business migration unit has 3,300 applications at the moment and they are processing an avereage 500 per month. BAD NEWS.

Could be that some people who would now fail the points test for Gen Skills have been applying for Business visas (I think it would be reasonably straightforward to put together a good case if you have a medium pot of money and some business experience, particularly if you use a NZ agent with relevant knowledge). So maybe the numbers swelled, we'll know when NZIS publishes end of year applications figures.

Cheers - Don
