Default NZ Migration Agent Advice - New Agent Needed....Apply Within...

Dear All

Could anyone recommed an Agent for the purpose of PR application to NZ.

We have an agent now but (naming no names) we have become a bit irritated with him and dont know whether to carry on using him for the PR.

We had considered doing it all ourselves but are a bit unsure of how to present Nicks work experience as he trained to advanced C&G in Carpentry and Joinery (part time course while working in said job) worked at that for a while and the decided to become a consulting structural engineer (AMIStrucE, IEng), the problem is trying to prove that the two jobs are connected to construction and claim a full 12 years experience for both carpentry and engineering.

The PR form doesnt seem hard but I dont know how best to submit/word it to get across what I mean (only small boxes provided on the form).

Our Agent now says hes going to try and do it for us but as I said we are not convinced he's earning his money at present but dont want to risk being turned down.

If anyone has any advice or recommedations of an Agent who they have had success with.

Or even any Agents who can help me who read this forum are welcome to reply.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Pippa xx

Hi Pippa,

As you may have seen from a previous thread we are migrating to NZ using a consultant. He is James Cooper at Malcolm Pacific try www.malcolmpacific.com for more info.
Although ours is quite a simple application and we haven't actually got the visas yet(medicals tommorrow :scared: ). We have so far been very satisfied with the service. Our original planned route wasn't going to be quite so straight forward and he still seemed very confident of success.
He is very proactive, chases us up for progress when we are supposed to be doing something for the application. Also we were inclined to use them as they are only NZ immigration consultants so we felt they were a bit more specialised. Their website will tell you all you need to know.

Hope this is of help

Hi Pippa,

Just remembered this info about Malcolm Pacific. If you are a client for an extra fee of (i think) £60 you can join The Hunters Club. Which will help you find a job, services include help with CV, jobs on line for you, your cv online, at the Hunters club offices in Aukland free access to computers, newspapers, telephones, fax & secrectarial support. They also offer help with settling in with discounts available on such things as airfares, shipping, rental cars, accmodation etc.
I have no direct experience of this club myself and all the above has been quoted from their leaflet.

Hope this helps

Paula

Thanks a lot for the info its really useful we'll se if they can help us. By the way pardon for me being so rude but what fee's are they charging you for NZQA (if you used them for this), PR application etc I guess it all depends on the complexity of the case but just interested to compare your know what Brits are like for getting value for money....

Good luck with your medicals today, think happy calming thoughts while the Doc takes your BP :

Ours are booked for 5th September 8 days, not that were counting or anything!

Keep in touch as it sounds like we are at a similar stage of the process and it would be good to hear from you again.

Have you thought about where your going to start off in NZ, do you have friends/relatives there or just going into the unknown (like us) :scared:

Love to know what plans and thoughts you have about it all, its really mind blowing isnt it?

Have you told your families over here yet? Nicks told his mum & dad but I dont want to tell mine till we get a bit further on with the whole thing, dont want them worrying too much (I can do enough worrying for everyone :d:

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Pippa,

I'm sorry i can't offer much more info about our costs etc with Macolm Pacific. Firstly because we are going on a Work to residence accredited employer talent visa as Ian has got a job offer from his current UK employer in their NZ operation (yes we do know that we are jammy b*******) also because his employer is picking up the bill for the consultants fees ( jammy yet again ), although we were going to go the PR route initially and I think a figure of about £2500 was quoted but we can't really remember what was included in that figure, sorry I can't be of more help.
We are heading to Christchurch, hopefully if everything goes to plan in Nov. Medicals went OK today and if Malcolm Pacific are happy with them when the results are back, the application will be lodged straight away!
The house is sold subject to contract and I'm getting shipping quotes in the first 2 weeks in Sept!
The family have all known now for sometime and are now comming to terms with the idea.

Ian the kids and I are all really excited, I think because we have seriously wanted to get of this country for so long it feels exciting/daunting but very right
