NZ Maps

Can anyone recommend a good website where you can veiw on line maps to street level of NZ. There is one : www.nzmaps.co.nz that is really good but only has Auckland. I think the rest come at a price. I am particularly trying to get my bearings on the layout of Wellington.

Hi Rob,
I find the city council sites good for this kind of thing. I had a quick look at Wellington's and there are some good maps under the 'about Wellington' section. The address is www.wcc.govt.nz in case you don't have it.

Hope this helps.

Re: NZ Maps

Rob, this is a good site for maps - www.wises.co.nz - street level for most towns...

You could buy
New Zealand Road Atlas only £4.99 lot easier than messing with internet.

or Globe Trotter Travel Map

Thanks all, I just found a link from the Wellington CC website to www.wises.co.nz just before returning to this site - exactly what I was looking for.
Cheers.

Rob:)

also try http://www.nztopoonline.linz.govt.nz/

beta release but very good. It shows topo maps (ordinance) for all of NZ, so you can see how many walking tracks are around your suburb and hill steepness etc (very important for wellington!)

You might be looking at what you think is a short walk, but check the topographic lines and you'll discover it's a lot harder!

using the search feature and typing in suburb names works best. no street searching yet

Just had a look at this one, yeah, pretty good. Could prove useful.
Thanks.

My hobby at the moment seems to be collecting map & aerial photo sites.

If you search for 'maps' in the title or for Netwriter posts you'll find my list.

It took me ages to find maps & aerial photos.
Google seems to fail me !

I'll add peoples suggestions if I get time !

Steve.

Good sites.
I've added the links to my posting "Free site for Maps and Aerial Photos of NZ".
At this rate we'll cover the whole of NZ in detail.

Steve.
