Default NZ immi policy change affected earlier application

Hi, I am one of the many people affected by the new NZ immigration laws. I have applied in July 2002 for the 6 months temporary residence visa (work permit for job search), my application was refused in October 2003 due to the later issued new immigration policy, which does not approve that type of visa anymore.

My question is: "based on my application and the already launched papers (academic certificates, medical assessment, English test results, etc) can I still do anything to get a residence permit / visa in spite of that ? Are there any agents who are successful in finding work in the science / software area ?

Is it possible to "revive" my application if I get a job offer ?
I would be very happy if you could help me.

Thomas
