Default NZ - credit, loans, bank accounts etc

I would be interested in hearing of people's experiences in opening bank accounts, obtaining credit cards, loans, signing up for mobile phone or other ongoing accounts, buying houses - basically anything where a credit rating might be required.

Does anyone have recommendations on what sort of evidence we should take with us from the UK - bank statements, letters from the bank, credit card statements, utility bills etc - in order to prove we are trustworthy enough for credit?

Has anyone had any problems obtaining credit etc?

Donna

When I first moved over under the General Skills Category I had to deposit $100k in a NZ bank account.

This was evidence enough of my credit worthiness. I had no problem with credit cards, just filled out the forms.
