Default NZ Citizenship

Anyone know the current processing time for NZ citizenship applications? The DIA website says "It will usually take between five to eight months" but I've heard of people getting citizenship in 2 or 3 months. One more question, do DIA hold citizenship ceremonies 'ad hoc' (ie depending on how many people apply) or are they held at fixed intervals say, every 3/4/6 months? as obviously if this is the case the amount of time taken for approval would depend on when you got your application into the 'cycle' If there's anyone working for DIA or just been through the Citizenship process out there, I'd love to know how you got on.

Cheers

We applied for citizenship about 5 weeks ago. Acknowledged after 2 weeks and the guy handling our application is trying to get us into the Nov ceremony so I am pretty impressed with the speed...this is in Ch'ch by the way although all applications initially go to Wellington.

Cheers.

Hello

Alot depends on where you live. If you live in Auckland where most
immigrants end up, then the time line of five to eight months will be
correct. If however you live in a smaller centre then it might be
less. As far as citizenship ceromony's, I know that Auckand, Manukau,
and North Shore have a ceromony every month.

I cant really help you regarding my own personal timeline as I became
a citizen 11 years ago and received my certificate in the mail after
just two weeks after I applied. In those days if you were from a
Commonwealth country you didnt need to attend a ceromony like everyone
has to today regardless of nationality.
