Hi folks, just a quickie .. my partner has an NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry and Joinery.. is there anyone out there that can verify whether its worth anything in OZ - if so what qualification level would it equate to in OZ?

not sure on the qualifications ,? was talking to a bloke yesterday,in BERRI in the sth oz riverland,he has set up his own business, 2vans ,employs acouple of lad,s [apprentice] they were doing new shop, fit out,s for an optometrist ,we were trying to fit the new chair in,[you ever seen an optometrists chair?] he called him self "REDBACK CABINET MAKING,AND JOINERY" [ONLY A POM COULD THINK OF THIS NAME} He,d only been in oz a couple of years , there,s country towns screaming out for peple like this who are prepared tp look out side the square............. Depends upon whether he's worked in that trade for 3 out of the last four years [to qualify for max points] and upon how much experience he has after the Tra's deeming date [when he's deemed a qualified joiner]
You need to read the http://www.immi.gov.au/ site and download the [free] booklets for all the info
He doesn't need to have completed a formal apprenticeship just have the necessary skills to pass the tra

Thanks for the info.. He's worked at a window/door manufacturer's for 17 years now - he's never been under any formal 'apprenticeship' but like i say he's got NVQ 1 and 2.. fingers crossed!
