Hi everyone, I'm a renal nurse specialising in renal transplant and CAPD. We are hoping to settle in Perth, and are planning a visit at the end of May this year in order to validate PR visa.
I have pre arranged a formal visit to the renal unit at the fremantle hospital, however does anyone know if the Fremantle has a renal transplant unit.

Regards Gina & Tony

This might be a silly question but have you tried Fremantle Hsp web site??

Hoping to go to Melbourne to the Royal Womens Hospital, though I think you can have your pick of jobs.
Loads of work going in Melbourne.
Good luck

Hi everyone Im a paediatric nurse and Im pleased to read how fast everything is going for all those who have applied!! (at last a perk to nursing) I was going to go through Drake Medox as they have been really great for a friend of mine working in NSW. There is an option to take a perminent contract with the hospital if you like it there, if not then your not tied down. Im sure there a pro's and con's to agency work, like the hospitals may not choose an agency nurse first due to cost.
Also Im just wondering when I should have my skills assessed if Im applying in April?
Best of luck to you all. Hugs x

hAVE YOUR SKILLS ASSESED AND APPLY PROPERLY, AS A NURSE YOU WILL BE FAST TRACKED AND THEN YOU WILL HAVE THE FREEDOM TO WORK WHEREVER YOU WANT.
TO APPLY FOR A SKILLED MIGRATION VISA TAKES ABOUT 3 TO 4 MONTHS AS A NURSE/MIDWIFE.
WE APPLIED IN OCT 03 AND ARE NOW JUST WAITING FOR THE FINAL ANSWER.
AM GOING TO MELBOURNE TO WOTRK AT THE ROYAL WOMENS AND CHILDRENS HOSPITAL.
AM STARTING TO GET NERVOUS BUT I AM SURE IT WILL BE BRILLIANT.

Hi everyone,

Whilst waiting to come over to Australia, I found this number to a nursing agency in Perth.

Its called 'Nursing Agency Perth'.

The number is 9271 6382 Office hours.

Worth a ring. I think that they may also do Bank work which may be a good start for some of you whilst you first get here.

Good luck

I don't believe that Australia has Emergency Nurse Practitioners. New Zealand recently recognised Nurse practitioners but you have to have a Masters Degree and apply for certification. Yet none in ED.

To find a job I found the direct approach preferrable. When I was looking into the Sunshine Coast spoke to a chap at Coolumba Hospital ED who was helpful. Apparently all applications go through the Queensland Health Authority Recruitment process and is advertised on their website. Good luck.

Hello ,

We're off to Brisbane in 5 weeks (:scared: ) so I'l post about jobs etc for nurses when I get there. I've decided not to approach an agency in the first instance but to look for a job direct.
For those looking for an agency in Brisbane www.oxleynursing.com.au were recomended to me, by an aussie colleague, havnt had any dealings with them but shall keep them as plan B!

I think you are right Roger - I know that some states have set up NP posts but most of them are in the rural areas which makes sense to me as it is probably where they are most needed.
