Nurses question.
 

Please help? My daughter is at university studying for a Higher Education Diploma in Children's Nursing, she was told that this is not a recognised qualification in Australia. Does anyone know if this is true? I did not apply for her on my visa because I was told that she would get in on her own steam once she finished.

check with dimia but i dont think it is - If i remember rightly, a colleague several years ago had to do the adult module to be able to be eligible under the skills assessment and modl.

Why did you not include her on your visa? If she is dependent on you that's the easiest route by far.

A degree - in itself - won't necessarily get her into Australia.

Get some urgent professional advice on the options - if she is dependent then the Dependent Child visa may be the right option.

Although in that case, if she did not do medicals and police checks when you got your visas, you will have some serious explaining to do to DIMIA so they don't cancel your own PR visa.

Get urgent assistance (choose well when selecting an agent as you need a good one) and don't try to fix this on your own.

The message was written wrong, soory. She is not dependant, she is at university and will not be coming over with us when we leave as she needs to finish her course. We were just wondering if the qualification that she is studying for would be accepted over there, as she was told that it wasn't.

Australian nurses do a general nursing course first then specialise post reg, whether your daughters course is recognised may depend on the content and how much general nursing is covered (a course transcript is required for skills assessment). Even if it is recognised, she will need post reg experience before applying for a visa.

I did a diploma in childrens nursing (project2000) and had no problems with getting recognised. However like the previous poster has said your daughter will need to get post reg experience before applying for her visa

If she is at university then she may well still be dependent.

You really do need to get some professional advice. If you don't approach things properly she may not be able to get to Australia at all - especially if the diploma she is doing does not make her a qualified nurse in the UK. Will she be an RGN?

Assuming she intends to apply for residency as un unsponsered migrant nurse -

If that is the case then she needs to look at the line of nursing she intends to perform here, and having cheked up that it is required on the DIMIA web site (which it will be), look at the ANCI web site. They are the body that assess the relevance of any qualifications, and not DIMIA.

Hi,
I have an Advanced Diploma in Childrens Nursing and had no problem getting a visa for myself and my family on the strength of it. However, as someone said earlier you definitely need to have post reg experience (2 years I think).
