Default Nuclear Power

Is nuclear power inevitable in Australia, I read on SMH that proposed sites will be in Holsworthy, Goulburn or Lucas Heights!

Since Australia has quite a large proportion of the planet's uranium ore it seems anti-commonsense not even to discuss using it ourselves.

If we keep breeding the way we are now the population is going to stabilise at some 10-12Bn (depending which forecast you take) at which point natural and conflict "culling" will put a lid on it. But at what overall standard of living....

Malthus was of course absolutely right - even if his timing wasn't.

So nuclear has to be an option.

they should stick a big reactor in the outback. nobody goes there, nobody cares, if it blows up it'll be a tourist attraction and millions of square miles of useless desert will be useless for millions more years, expat poms will enjoy earning a fortune working in radiation-shack 1 week on 1 week off and it'll give hte miners something to do when the mines shut.

yay for nucular

No problem - have a tank that's filled from the rain on the roof.

when they lay the 16,000 km power lead, they can lay a 16,000 km water pipe to the sea.
