I suggest the United Kingdom. Last time I checked the populace of this backwater positively revelled in whinging about every tiny facet of modern life. There are plenty of shops with a huge number of goods to purchase and if you visit Bath there's even one called 'Knobs and knockers' which has a vast range of door furniture. I reckon he'd fit right in.
