Electricity prices in NSW should fall regardless of whether the federal government succeeds in scrapping the carbon price.
The Australian Energy Market Commission, which overseas the energy sector, has forecast unregulated electricity prices in NSW will decline by an average of 0.7 per cent a year from 2012-13 to 2015-16. The forecast is based on the existing carbon-pricing scheme introduced by the Labor government.
The commission says the ''significant driver'' of the predicted price fall in NSW will be the transition from a fixed price to a floating price under legislation passed during Labor's rule. The move to a floating carbon price from July 1, 2015, would be the key factor in an expected 5 per cent fall in NSW electricity prices in 2015-16.

So they have risen 54% in the last 3 years but are expected to fall by 5% by 2016. Wow.

Not negative just realistic. Very well done to,you if your income has increased more than 54% in 3 years, that most certainly isnt the case for most.

Bully for NSW , the cost in Qld for next financial year , 2014 - 2015 , has just been tabled for an 11.5% increase , nice when you ad it on to this fin years--2013/14 increase of 22%.
Of course both electricity Cos in the land of the lost are owned by the Govt so when- and if- the carbon tax is repealed we will expect a decrease of only ?% more which the Govt will publish as a reduction when seasonaly adjusted.
Thats if they have time left over from issuing constitutionaly illegal law and locking up people for possibly congregating in gruops of 3 (or more) who may be a member of the local bowling club which will be slated as an illegal organisation.
Which is all the more galling when the said people are not actualy members of the bowling club.

We get the occasional outage a few times a year and its back on quickly.
I like to tell my kids that modern societies take a lot of infrastructure for granted. Nothing is infallible. There are people in the world whose lives and infrastructure are wrecked by war, disaster, poverty and corruption...don't tell me this is Qld!

I don't find electricity prices here that bad - although I haven't had a summer yet. Bills so far have been less than UK although gas has maybe been a little higher.
