now he wants to come !
hi all
i posted a thread a week or two ago concerning my 17 yr old son saying he didn't want to come to oz. I got some brill advise from you lot and told him i accepted his decision. Now he say's he wants to come! with his girlfriend (who is also 17) she has one year to go to complete her nursery nurse training and he works in a factory, packing (warehousing) we are not even applying till Dec 03 when he will then be 18.
Does any one know if they will have to apply on their own merrit?
Kids hey, who'd have um!! (glad he wants to come really!)
cheers
Ellen

Thats great news. Not sure about the visa side of things . They could get a working holiday one. Is it serious between them?

Hi Ellen,
Great that your son has changed his mind, if you wait until he is 18 yes he will have to apply but if you apply before he is 18 he will get in with the family.
I have a seventeen year old son and that is one of the reasons we applied when we did we have just booked our flights for June to validate our Visa's although he's not going out until Sept as he is going with a friend and traveling around oz for a year.
Good luck with your application

I think if I were in your position i would apply now while he can go on your visa as a dependent.
Then if this takes the year the girlfriend will have finished her nursery nurse training and maybe she can go out with you on her own merits, or sponsorship.
Good luck with this very hard decision.
Cheers
