"Will just have to live life to the full in Scotland!!!!!!!!"

Nothing wrong with that - it's a beautiful place.

I'm a strong believer in eveything being for a reason (though not in a religious sense), and it could be that it just wasn't meant to be. May be a load of rubbish, but I do find it helps. As they say "if you can't change the problem, change your attitude to the problem" and it certainly sounds as though you are doing that.

Good luck with whatever you do.

The 45yrs age does kind of apply to employer sponsored but can be waived in certain circumstances if the job is specialised/employer can prove they can't get anyone younger type of situations. Not necessarily easy but potentially possible for some.

Thanks Safin.

My husband is looking for a Senior Site Manager/Project Manager job in the Construction Business. Would not say it was specialised and that they would probably be able to find suitable people in Australia at present.

We have tried at the wrong time!!!! Should have looked at it 3 years ago when my husband first suggested it.

Hi Sue

Thanks for getting back to me. Things are the same here people losing their jobs or working reduced hours. We are lucky that my husband is one of the few survivors in his company.

He was 45 in July this year so on what you are saying we have until July 2010 to have our visa!!!

I think like other posters stated it is going to be difficult if not impossible without a visa. I applied for my PR when I was 44 and given that it takes a while it can still be granted when you are 45 (i.e., in your 45th year) but if he is already 45 and has not started the process then he is not going to be eligible. I think you should go and see an immigration consultant and save yourself a lot of wasted time and money.

I would recommend 1st Contact Migration - I used them or contact the agencies advertised on this website. Alan Colett is really helpful.

If you don't make the basic requirements like age then you will not be able to apply and the rest is irrelevant.

Sue
