Northern Suburbs commutable to Brisbane
Hi All
After much thought we have pondered on the idea of going North of Brisbane instead of South in the Gold Coast area. Does anyone have any suggestions on good suburbs North of Brisbane which are still commutable into the city. I would say I wouldn't really want more than 45 mins travel, less is possible.
We looked at Deception Bay area and looks like house prices are not to bad there.
My main thought is that most people seem to head south so going north should be more properties, cheaper prices, am i right?
We have a son of 11 years so a good public school is essential too.
We would initially look at renting so need somewhere where its not a battle to get the property you need, we aren't too bothered about being close to the beach, we lived in South Africa and to be honest didn't spend that much time there except for a weekend scroll or swim, so figure about 30 to 45 mins away will be fine.
I am a materials handling design engineer so I figure I will probably get work in a consultanty in Brisbane easiest.
Any advice really welcome.
Cheers
Mark

We are in Aspley, commute down Gympie Road daily - I would agree that its 45 mins from here to the CBD on a good day. I have known it take 30 minutes just to Windsor

Bribie Island is about 45 mins - 60 mins to Brisbane, it's a really nice island with a new area being built called Pacific Harbour, houses are not that cheap but it's a lovely area and if you buy a plot by the canal you will never loose money on your property. Schools are also good.

We are looking at the Sandgate area. It's closer to the city than Deception Bay and Redcliffe and its on the train line. The schools seem pretty good also. Also is on the coast.
Others around the north to consider would be Albany Creek and Mango Hill/Northlakes areas.

Try Grange/Wilston/Newmarket/Windsor if you want to be really clost to the city, prices are higher obviously but there are some great schools and only 4km to the city, perfect !
