Default Non stop London to Sydney

Don't know if this has been posted recently but I heard about it when on holiday.
I know we have discussed this possibility before on here:

http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/...538868882.html

The first buyers are Pakistan International airlines.

Not sure if I would fancy it all in one go :scared:

Sounds like a desparate attempt by Boeing to compete with the new airbus A380.
I wonder how many passengers it could carry once loaded with enough fuel?

It would have had to have flown a few thousand times before I would try it.

Actually, I quite like stopping over and the thought of being on a plane for that long

Me too

a friend of mine was killed when a PIA plane crashed in Nepal a few years ago.

I suspect they want it to fly non stop to America.

Of course flying a few odd thousand miles didnee stop Concord crashing

Personally I would love the non stop.....as long as they make a walking track for those not wanting to spend 18hrs in a seat. Plus a large bar.....plus a sauna!? Ok will honestly take cramped seat on any bloody airline I can afford to make sure I get back once a year.

Cheers

Unfortunately it is only a relatively small twin engined plane and there would not be room for anything but seats.

I still like being able to get off the plane and stretch my legs. We were not allowed off the plane when we flew to Canada and we felt exhausted.

Singapore already fly a similar distance. They do Singapore-New York non-stop using the A340-500, the longest commercial flight in the world. So there is a demand for this kind of flight but I think it wil remain a niche market.

If it were commercially viable then I suppose someone would already be doing it with the same planes.

seat I care about...yes I would like one

If they come out with cheap flights to promote the idea I would still sit on the cockpit jump seat to ensure I get a reasonable price once a year.

cheers

We flew Gatwick to Vancouver and stopped off in Edmonton to refuel.

The plane was quite small and there wasnt alot of room to stretch.

However, all worth it once we got there, the size of the apple pie, the pancakes! Oh my god, do they know how to serve food!
