I have PR but my partner is still on a workpermit. We are trying to buy a unit in Sydney and if his name goes on the title will need Foreign Investment Review Board permission as he does not have PR yet. This takes a month, and we may lose the property in the meantime.

Does anyone know if the bank will allow us to leave his name off the title even though we are getting a joint mortgage? If he is not on the title we don't need FIRB permission as I am allowed to buy property unrestricted with PR.
