No we didn't fall off the edge....YES, we did arrive.

Well, we made it and have quite a tale to tell!
We didn't manage to complete on the house before we left but decided that we were on the move anyway, calling their bluff for the 23rd time our parting shot being "That's the final price, we're off anyway so take it or leave it." We finally completed 4 weeks after arriving.
Not feeling quite as brave as we sounded, we set off to Claire's Mum & Dad's for our penultimate night in the UK. Even leaving the house was traumatic as the kids friends had all congregated to see the container being loaded. This had the effect of Mums and Dads coming round to see where their offspring were and say another final farewell!
So, traumatised as we were we set off for Grimsby, only to have a VERY dodgy    driver try to wipe us off the road. We 'phoned the police and he was arrested shortly after he did a 3 point turn on the motorway in front of us having collided with a truck. We were like a couple of bits of chewed string by the time we got to the haven of the out laws.
After a tearfull farewell the following day, we were off via Manchester, Zurich & Singapore with Singapore airlines. Flights brilliant, Singapore even better than we expected. We had a 2 day stop over and enjoyed every minute of it. This also helped to get over the jetlag.
We got to Brisbane on the 9th of November and hit the ground running.
we've had 5 1/2 weeks of constant form filling and proving of our identities, but are now settling in well.
We've not been on the site as our lap top failed spectacularly taking a years researched info with it :scared: , failed hard drive the culprit. Note to ourselves to be written out 100 times.. :lecture: . ..We MUST back up our files.....
anyway, one new computer later we're back in the fold!!!
So far the kids love school, we've both got jobs, We're buying a house and are sure we've made the right choice in the move.
Christmas is a bit daunting as we're missing family and friends but we've decided it's best to do Christmas the Aussie way and not dwell on Christmasses past (Bah Humbug!!!).
We would like to wish everyone going through the process of emigrating the best of luck and say stick with it, it's worth it.

Well done,
Funny enough we go to Perth January 2004 and are heading to Grimsby to stay with my in-laws before we travel.
Hope not to have your road experience.

Yes we did. We put most of the luggage into the left luggage office at singapore airport which was cheap, efficient and not too far from the departure desks.
we have a friend who has a travel agency business, and has been brilliant. If you would like any contact details let us know , we left everything up to him and that part of the move gave us the least worries.
