Is this on a TV you brought over? Try a cheap set top box if you want digital TV.

I was told it's a frequency thing - you may have to set it for Germany which is the same I think

Before someone gets in and says turn the volume up, I'll say it. :D

On a more serious note, just be aware that on Prime CH7 along with 7two and 7mate, the sound often drops out for no reason, so while testing, use another channel. ;)

You need to set up the country on the TV/Freeview decoder.

If you are lucky Australia might be in there as a specific option, so select it.

Otherwise, try Austria

If you are very unlucky, it might not have a country setup at all. In which case you're SOOL.

Either way, unless your TV can decode MPEG2 HD transmissions, it's worth getting a cheap set top box.

Get a set top box, that's the easiest way to do it

Is it a UK TV or have you bought one here? Once we all know that then we may be able to articulate better our responses.

Sorry guys/girls for the delay, been unpacking boxes all day!

We bought it over from the UK. In fact we bought 3 over from the UK, one of which we havent got around to opening yet anyway.

Have a panasonic and samsung, not really tackled the samsung yet..... one step (or TV) at a time!

I cant see on the panasonic where to change to settings/origin? Have heard a germany location would do it but cant find the options to change?

i take it i would need one of those boxes for each TV?

Via the remote, it should be somewhere in preferences or set-up or try "installation" as in auto tune etc. There should be a screen with multiple country choices.

You SHOULDNT experience problems with newish digital TVs and at worst it will just be case of changing the location in the menu and retuning to the Australian channels.

Some confusion here I think guys.....

The sound issue is on analogue TV, you need to change the signal type from B/G to C if I remember correctly. Not all TVs support this change. But with analogue switching off in April I wouldnt worry.
The country fudge is for Digital TV and usually works as described with Germany. I did find tho my old Pioneer wouldnt pick some digital channels
Good luck

Short answer. Bring them. If they don't work with their internal tuners, buy a set top box (or two or three) they are now as cheap as.

Re: No Sound on TV

Slightly different problem but thought this the most relevant thread.

We only have an aerial connection at the moment, so set the region, hit digital and analogue tune and got SBS and Channel 10 channels, but none of the Channel 7 or Channel 9 one's. Looked up the digital and analogue settings and tried a manual tune to see if it was just a weak signal, but still no joy. Any ideas?
