No Alsylum Here?

I fully exspect the thought police to take this off also , but thoose who are now in boats off Australia coast take note.

PHILIP Ruddock's eldest daughter Kirsty is so hurt by her father's hard line views on asylum-seekers that she has left Australia to work overseas.

Ms Ruddock, a 30-year-old lawyer, is appalled at the Immigration Minister's policies.

Before flying out to take up a volunteer job in a developing Asia-Pacific nation, she admitted she had lost a long battle to persuade her father to change his mind on refugees.

"I suppose what upsets me is that he can't take a more compassionate approach to some of the issues," Ms Ruddock said.

"I'm very opposed to the mandatory detention system and certainly the detention of children in particular, and I've raised that with him on a number of occasions.

I also find it hard to reconcile some of things he is doing at the moment with some of the things that he's taught me to believe in . . . that is difficult to reconcile, the public perception of him and the person I know as well."
