I've dived QLD (Flinders reef, Moreton Island) and NSW (Byron Bay). Can't wait to dive Melbourne and see the leafy sea dragons. But if I was going to choose anywhere to live in Oz based on diving alone it would be Ningaloo Reef, WA. mmmmm whale sharks.

I got to dive in Melbourne last year and actually saw some sea dragons. Hard to spot, but when you do they are great to photograph as they can't actually swim off. The diving there is good, but in October I wished I had my dry suit with me - 15 degrees, brrr. Can't wait to get back, there are plenty of wrecks down off the coast there.
Also managed to dive the GBR; if your ever in Townsville, the Yongala is a fantastic wreck to do, dive surrounded by hugh Napoleon Wrass (or Maori Wrass as were in Oz), loggerhead turtles, olive sea snakes and a myriad of other fish.
Ningaloo is on my list for places to visit.

Every other week they charter Ocean Cat. It's a decent sized cat with a cabin, and a shower so no need to keep your wetty on all day. it's a bit exxy, you only get two dives, but there's lunch on board and it's very comfortable. The club's next social night is the 23rd August if you want to go along.
