Yeh, it's a bit on the quiet side although there's life if you look for it:-) Northbridge can be lively and there are clubs there and I hear Leederville is OK. We've been out a couple of times to Subiaco at the weekend and enjoyed it but the actual CBD in the city is very quiet.

Loads of spots to go around the CBD and surrounding suburbs all the way West along the coast to Fremantle. The usual pommy enclaves of Joondalup and Rockingham are like your average British town centre, full of hoodys all looking for a fight so stay away. Northbridge has a bad rep but isn't all that bad, and there are lots of small funky bars opening up all over the CBD.

Perth would not be a place to come to for those wanting a diverse night life.It is rather quiet, predictable, youth orientated and no way recommended for a single person.
This is more a family life city first and foremost.

Most of it is fine, nightlife here is actually not that bad at all when you scratch the surface and get past the big pubs and well known places that attract trouble. The small liquor licence has worked wonders for CBD bars off the beaten track and the music scene here is great due to the isolation away from the other states. A lot of bands and DJs come over here that don't make it over to the Eastern states when they travel through Asia, this also works the other way with Perth missing out on some acts.

There are places around even in the CBD. Though now i have discovered the Lucky Shag Bar by the Ferry terminal has the footy on on Saturdays, thats the place to be
