Default news on the med front

hello every one and thanks for the support, went to the consultant this morning and he is 99% certain that i have something called " sarcoidosis" and have had it for a least five years !, the good news is its not really serious, ie. it hasn,t affected me in the past and it should hardly affect me in the future, it is very treatable with steroids over a couple of months and so shouldn,t be expensive, it won,t shorten my life and will not interfere with work or anything and i have no outward signs , in other words its there , but will not cause me any problems, now the bad news is i have to go through a blood test and possibly a ct scan to prove to thr aussies that this is what i have and then maybe some paperwork from the consultant to say it won,t be a problem for the future, any ideas on their take on this sort of thing, we are going to be up against it on the timescales as my wifes prospective employer expects her to be out there around january and may not be too pleased with the thought that they may not grant us a family visa untill all this is sorted out. still look on the bright side.

Really pleased to hear that it is not serious.

Good luck with your CT Scan.

From everything Ive read on here and elsewhere (personal view based on other peoples comments & experiences)

- Going Category B on the Med's (wihch is what you are if not 100% clear) will add about 2-4 weeks to the visa process.

- If your condition is not serious, and consultant letter accompanies your meds or is sent over soonish after the meds to state this , then you should be in the clear.

So expect an additional 2-4 weeks on the process, and expect to pass the medical review.

They only stop you for serious stuff, take a look in the 'immigration' forum for threads on medical refusals.

Where shall i start -
i too was diagnosed with an old case of Sarcoidosis, i had to go to a specialist at royal brompton who did loads of tests and confirmed it was an old case
we got him to write a letter explaining and sent it off with the medicals
2 weeks later we where granted PR visas
never even mentioned it
so don't worry all will be fine !!

Hi
Thanks for the reply I am off for CT scan in next couple of weeks and blood tests next week. How do they tell if its active or not?
I should get results by the end of october at the latest, if the scan is ok else they will have to do a biopsy! :scared:
