degree qualified midwife from ireland. confused about APHRA registration. am i likely to have supervision attached to registration. is finding work an issue with supervision attached to registration. very confused about the whole process. APHRA are very generic with response.

Unless you did 10 continuity of care cases in your training, and these are detailed in your university transcript, you cannot satisfy criteria 5 and will need to complete a period of supervised practice to meet APHRAs requirements for internationally qualified midwives. In all honesty you will probably struggle to find an employer willing to take this on. The paperwork is immense, not to mention the implications it has on the roster for staffing ratios to have a superviser on shift. If you were an experienced midwife with a specific skill set then maybe, but as a newly qualified midwife I’d say unlikely, especially given there’s no shortage of new grads in Australia. But give it a go, I hope to be proved wrong. Best of luck |
