Default Newbie with questions

Hi, I'm afraid I'm one of those annoying newbie types who jumps straight in with questions that have probably been answered a hundred times before. I have looked through the FAQs and various threads though, and I'm not obviously repeating anything. So here goes...

Does anyone have sponsorship for a 457 visa through a management company in Sydney? I've had an offer from Freespirit and am waiting to hear from Geoffrey Nathan, Ayers Management and Pendragon. I'd be grateful if anyone could point me in the direction of other, similar agents.

Many thanks

Anne

I have not heard your question before so do not worry about being attacked for laziness.

Be very wary at the moment as the rules of agencies sponsoring 457ers are rumoured to be changing. You are right to be treading carefully. Hopefully Alan Collett might be able to provide an update as I have seen one article giving some hope but have seen many since predicting the demise of the recruitment agency sponsorship. I have heard about IT contractors on 457s through agencies who are going to have to return home in February or March.

On the Oz immigration forum there are a few Immigration professionals (JAJ and George Lombard) who give good advice from the inside of the industry.

ptlabs and Alan Collett look at this forum and have good reviews for their services.

Good luck

BP,

Erm, I am not yet a registered migration agent, and as such, I do not -as yet- provide any migration services or advice

Jeremy (a.ka. JAJ) and George Lombard are both registered migration agents who visit the Immigration forum at http://britishexpats.com/forum/forum...?s=&forumid=32. They do not visit this Lifestyle forum. There are other registered agents who also visit that forum.

Thanks for your reply Bondipom. I know until recently that you could get sponsored by a management company and get a contract/temporary position through a recruitment agency with both taking their % cut from your salary. DIMIA are concerned that people are being taken advantage of though, as I understand it, and have removed the recruitment agencies from the loop. You can still go through a recruitment agency for a permenant position though, as there's only a one of payment between them and the end user. I may have made that sound more complicated than it really is!

Thanks also to Peter for a nod in the right direction. I'll give the thread a read.

Cheers both.
