New in VIC
 

Hi all! Just found this place...somehow...umm...think it was doing a search for the Im A Celebrity show being shown on UKTV on Foxtel (yes....thats a bit sad!) but alas, im here all the same!

My Wife, Myself and our 2 children have just moved from Cornwall, UK to Lara near Geelong, VIC....arrived Oct 10th and just beginning to get stuff sorted. Will post more tomorrow, just realised it's gone 2am! (story of my life that is...i really do believe internet time is deffo slower than real time!!)

We had our 'first impression' in 2005...and it's great!

My wife is originally from Geelong and moved with her parents to the UK in 1992, and we hooked up soon after she got to the UK.

Her Mum moved back to VIC in 2003, which was hard as our 1st child had arrived and she was obviously gonna miss him...but to be frank, the UK was killing her with its bleak weather and negativity..so it had to be done.

My wife and I came over to Geelong xmas 2005 with a view to moving here, which was obviously welcomed by her Mum who was missing the kids like mad by this time....and we were convinced we were going to go ahead with it when we returned from our holiday at the end of January...basically we landed at Heathrow and it was -5....what more convincing could you need! haha

Loving it so far! Im just about to post a topic 'a few niggles' though to see if its just me being a fussy bugger!! lol will post link here in a bit..

I will email asap.....will be happy to let you and your listeners know why we left Cornwall.

Mainly down to huge house prices and low wages.....oh, and theres the mass incinerator that is being built 200 yards from our old house! Apart from that it was great!

Hi we're new to this too. We're still in Uk (lancaster) but have been granted our visa earlier this week and are looking for work in Geelong. We'll be out as soon as house sells unless hubbie is offered an attrative relocation package (we wish!). We're heading for Ocean Grove and have 3 kids in tow.
By the way I'm a celeb is down to the final 3..... I won't ruin it, we too are very sad!

Hi guys!
Hope all goes well with the sale of the house. I busted my gut on our place to make sure it would sell quick..repainted everything. Each viewing we had i spent the whole day making sure it was spotless (thats how desperate we were to get out here!)
How long has it been on the market so far? I think ours took about 4 weeks to get an offer (thank gawd!)

Best of luck with everything, and give us a yell when u get out here!

Bad news is that it's been on the market since September...like you every viewing takes me a day to prepare. Trouble is hardly any viewings. We like near the lakes in a v popular 2nd home village and NOTHING is selling. I blame the media scaremongering!
