Default New toll charges, Brisbane

http://www.qldmotorways.com.au/onthe...perations.aspx

TOLL COSTS PER TOLL POINT FROM 1 JULY 2010*
Class 1 Class 2 Class 3 Class 4
Gateway Bridge $1.93 $3.85 $5.78 $10.20
Kuraby $1.14 $2.27 $3.41 $6.02
Loganlea Road $0.73 $1.46 $2.19 $3.87
Heathwood and Paradise Road $1.20 $2.40 $3.60 $6.36

What percentage increase is this, from $2.95 to $3.85?!?!?!?! Is that even legal??? So I have to pay extra $1.80 each time I go shopping at DFO near the airport or strawberry picking in the Sunshine Coast with the kids? It's great using the viatag, isn't it? You don't even notice how much you're paying.

Doesn't seem like long since it was $2.60...to $3.85 is a hefty increase, you're paying for 2 bridges now though!

I did read today though that the Clem 7tunnel toll is being slashed since no one uses it!

That's just a rip frankly. Yet another thing to add onto the cost of living in the less than smart state.

Only if you go north via that bridge

That reminds me, I used the bridge the other day, I suppose I should try to pay the toll. What's the website you use to pay it again ?

My 'local' bridges:

Tolls removed from Scots bridges

Tolls have been officially abolished on the Forth and Tay road bridges after years of campaigning by drivers.
The final fee-paying motorists crossed the bridges at midnight before the charges, of £1 on the Forth Bridge and 80p on the Tay Bridge, were lifted.

Toll charges are to be increased by up to 50% for the Dartford crossing over the Thames between Kent and Essex.

That's a bit like the M4 in NSW...

15 FEB 2010
Motorists will no longer pay a toll on the M4 from midnight, when the road is handed back to the NSW Government.

It seems both countries have similar advantages and disadvantages...

Does anyone remember when the Brisbane Story Bridge stopped charging its toll ?
