We bought a new flat screen HD ready TV a few months ago as well as a PC then decided to emmigrate. What are the chances of being able to use electrical equipment from the UK in Aus?

Electrical equipment like your PC will work just fine.

The television is a slightly different matter. Again, the electricty side of things is fine. But Oz television transmits sound on a slihtly different frequency to UK television. So, with most UK TVs you get a picture and no sound. BUT: you can get the sound by routing the signal through the VCR or the Oz equivalent of the freeview box.

AND: some of the new UK TVs can be set to the Oz frequency. Have a look throuh your new TV's instruction booklet. If it mentions that it can be set to UK or European frequencies, then it should work in Oz as well (If not, you can watch it through the freeview box).
