I really really really like living in Melbourne
Drove home from work today, I thought, instead of taking the Nepean highway home, I'll take the scenic route via Beach Road.
I have never in my life experienced the drive home from work feeling like being on holiday.
Shimmering blue sea one side under a flawless blue sky, million dollar designer homes the other side to casually admire.
Life's good!

when we lived on the southside of brizvegas ... palm trees everywhere.. and i drove home daily, smiling and nearly rear ending other cars... as i looked at the scenery
Now on the northside... i look at the mountains and am equally impressed.
I made a deal with myself, when i moved to oz.. always and everyday appreciate something new !

Completely agree Buzzy. I drive to/from the CBD every day via Beach Road and jeez it makes a hell of a difference from M25 or A34. I do believe I'm also glad there is a 60 kph limit so I can cruise slowly along and take in the sights on summer days. Very very relaxing.
Don't get me started on those cyclists though...

Hi, not wanting to hijack this thread, but I've got a question - as We've only been as tourists and loved melbourne, and should be arriving next March to live there,
What are the good 'burbs / area's to look at in terms of flat & House prices?

Hi Dainty
We will also be interested in responses to this question too, hubby has a job on the Southbank, we have heard from the immi agents regarding the visa so all systems go. We will also be arriving next March and are interested in the good areas, preferably on the East side within about 45 mins commute to the CBD.
Many Thanks for any suggestions

Positive for a change? Its hard not to be positive about living in Melbourne.
One of the reasons I chose Melbourne over Brisbane was the accessibility of the diving, Brisbane may have warmer waters and more tropical fish, but you do have to get in a boat for a dive, whereas there's a fair bit of shore diving here, which makes diving much more spontaneous and cheaper! I swam in the sea along with loads of other people at the weekend, very bearable indeed! The sea life when diving is good, stingrays, many different colourful fish and I have even seen sea horses here which I have never seen elsewhere in the world. Enjoy!
