New Sofa?

A question for all of you already in Australia - we need to get a new sofa which we will be shipping over to Australia when we (hopefully) come.

I'm not sure whether to go for a fabric one or a leather one - does the fabric one get ruined because everyone is wearing suncream on their legs? Or is the leather one too hot and sticky in the Australian heat?

Maybe a bit of a daft question, but somebody else surely must have wondered about this? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Why buy to ship? Why not save on shipping fees and buy in Aus?

Leather sofa's are common in Aus, would say having leather car seats would be more of an issue

Ah, but we need a new sofa now - ours is really on it's last legs. We may not get to Australia until next year so can't really wait that until then.

Have loose covers at the moment which is great because it's never out of the washing machine with having the little ones.

Yes leather is common here in Oz, as long as your prepared to sit in a pool of your own or someone else's sweat for hours at a time especially if you do not have air-con installed then go for leather. We chose fabric as we find the sweat soaks into it better LOL, no we chose fabric solely because of the heat, comfort and sweat issue, we had ours protected with scotchgaurd and will have it pro-cleaned once a year as per manufacturer instructions, it's down to personal choice really...

We have leather and find it great with small kids. No problems washing covers, just wipe the leather. We are in Perth where it isn't as humid and we do have aircon so I guess if you are moving to the East coast where it is very humid and you end up somewhere with no aircon then leather may not be the best choice.

We also have leather, which I love because of the kids.

But we do have ducted air con and we usually try to keep the ouse at 24-25 degrees, so having a leather couch is no problem (for us anyway).

We're in the same boat but are making do, we go right at the end of this year.
