New to this site - Hello from Scotland
Hi to everyone!
Just wanted to say hello. We are family of four who hope to move to Perth later this year. We have had visas since 2002 (based on hubby being a bright spark!!!) and been out to Perth a couple of times since then, cant wait to get back (need some sun).
We decided to stay here until I had finished my training, will hopefully qualify as staff nurse in Aug this year.
Anyway I'm sure now I've found this site, my studying will take second place (bit of a worry)!!
Cheers
BTW Great site!!

1. Make sure you get back to Australia to live before your visas expire.
2. You may not be able to clock up two years in Australia before the re-entry facility on the visas expires.
In that case, you will need to get RRVs on concessional grounds. Read form 968i: http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/968i.pdf
Proving 'substantial ties' to Australia is a lot easier if you are *living* in Australia.

Hi JAJ
I am aware of all this information that you provided. This is actually our second PR visa first one lapsed many years ago after leaving Sydney due to family problems in Scotland (did'nt quite make it to the 2 year period). Upon our return hubby went to Uni, we had kids, before you know it 10 years past!!!
We intend returning before 2007 which is when our present visa is due to expire, therefore as long as we enter Oz prior to this date we can remain their indefinately (2 years before we can apply for citizenship).
However, if for any reason we are required to make a trip back to UK (ie compassionate grounds) before we gain our citizenship, we must have a valid reason for this in order to obtain RRV (Resident Return Visa).
At present we are making the most of the 5 year multiple travel period, I am studying for a degree in Nursing due to finish in approximately 6 months. This would cost a fair amount of money if I had done this in Oz because while I am still on PR Visa I am not entitled to study free of charge. While here in the UK I am being paid to undertake the course, not much, but better than nothing.
Think we have looked into most areas, definately not all. Anyway, thanks for your information and especially for taking the time out to post which is very kind indeed.
Cheers for that.
