Sounds really good until you read this bit at the end

"The airline has yet to get regulatory approval for its proposed launch and needs permission to fly its twin-engine planes up to 180 minutes away from emergency airports.

Qantas pilots, who are worried Jetstar will be used as a weapon to erode their pay and conditions - Jetstar pilots are paid up to $100,000 a year less - have urged the Civil Aviation Safety Authority not to grant the 180-minute approval, for safety reasons ."

But did you read The Australian yesterday? Basically the article was saying that it was an attempt at a stitch up by the pilots union.

Jetstar is paying its pilots $180K whereas Qantas pays its pilots $280K. The pilots are worried that Jetstar will influence overall market salary levels and so is (allegedly) causing problems for Jetstar by playing the safety card.

Unions playing dirty? In Australia? No way!!

Sorry - forgot to add - Jetstar had demonstrated somehow that the safety issue was not an issue.

And now I'ne just seen the sarcastic smiley at the end of your post so I assume that that was what you were trying to say anyhow.

Ignore me.

Not necessarily a bad thing. Just been testing in Jerez, flew out on Iberia (one of BA 'One World' partners) - flight delayed (always is on Iberia), seat wouldnt stay upright during flight, cabin crew uninterested and have to pay for inedible refreshments. Flew back on Ryanair - spotless clean plane, seats comfortable (and I'm 6' 2" and 18 stone), cabin crew friendly and polite. Wouldnt want to do more than a couple of hours on either but given the choice I wouldnt touch BA and their partners with someone elses barge pole.
