New to Adelaide!!
Hello out there!!
My fiance and I have just moved to Adelaide and have been here for three weeks!! We are loving every aspect of being here so far - but are seriously lacking in a social life - and would love to meet up with some like minded people
We have just moved from Perth, Western Australia - and my fiance is English (with an Aussie passport), a mad Liverpool fan, and into sports and outdoor activities. I have lived overseas in expat communities for the majority of my life - so kind of count myself as an expat too - although I do have an Australian passport, and have lived in Oz for 20 years..! I too enjoy outdoor activities, sports, and while I am not a Liverpool fanatic - I am happy to go out and watch the game while enjoying a few glasses of vino or beers.
All in all, we are a very social couple who like getting out and about and doing things - be it dinners, hikes, day trips, bar hopping, wine tours, surfing etc. We see ourselves as friendly, well travelled people and would love to get to know other people in Adelaide to meet up with.
If you are interested in meeting up feel free to send me a private message or alternatively let me know of any meet ups planned in the coming weeks that we might be able to come along to.

Hi there. Welcome to gorgeous Adelaide
I don't know of anything planned for meets etc and haven't really had much time to socialise these past few years, but I know SA is full of lovely, friendly people (they may be hibernating just now though ). Might be an idea to say where abouts in SA you are? I know that apart from the odd time, most of the meets etc are either 'North' or 'South'

Re: New to Adelaide!!
Hi there - I saw your post whilst researching about Adelaide online. My fiance and I will be moving to Adelaide in the next few months. Currently we live in Birmingham but we're both from Glasgow. We have just applied for our visa as my fiance has got a job in Adelaide as a mental health nurse. Like you, we'll be looking for like-minded people to hang out with! We enjoy hill walking, camping, clubbing, movies, festivals and of course having a drink or two in the sunshine! It's a shame we're not there yet but it would be great to keep in touch and maybe once we're moved meet up sometime. Looking forward to hearing from you! Cheers, Joanna P.S: Can't figure out how to send a private msg. Sorry!

Hi there JoJo82 - would LOVE to keep in touch and be someone you can get in touch with once you guys arrive!!!! I can understand only too well how much of a big thing it is to move - even though I've just moved across the border from my "home" state - it has still been a big leap for me - as I've never lived away from family or friends - but we are managing!
Adelaide is something special - and I have to admit, I did have my serious doubts!! - we are loving it here - there are always things to do on the weekend, and while the weather hasn't been that special, for us "naturalised" west aussies - we are loving the cold weather. Hopefully by the time you come over the weather would have changed for more sunnier days - as I am sure the novelty of cold winters wore off a long time ago!
I can't send you an email address yet via private message, because we need to post three times (or something like that?!) before we can be allowed to private message.....so my email address is going to have to wait ..... BUT do keep in touch ok? Good luck with the move too!!!
xx

Re: New to Adelaide!!
Hi again! Cheers for the quick reply. I'm actually in Canada right now visiting family and it's 12 midnight here. It must be afternoon in Adelaide..am I right? We will definitely keep in touch and I'm sure we'll have loads of questions for you closer to the move such as how much we can expect to spend on rent and nice areas to live. By the way, my fiance is a die-hard football fan too, but unfortunately he supports Glasgow Celtic, and I support Rangers! He'll be looking for a team to play football with the moment he gets off the plane. Does your fiance play too? Speak to you soon, J

Funny you should mention about your fiance looking for a team to join...!! That is exactly what my HTB did!!! He is playing for a soccer team that - to his horror - wear the Man U kit colours!!! I am sure he will have some links by the time you move out....which is?
Also have some great recommendations for you as to where to live - depending on your budget...
Have a great time in Canada - that is on our list for our honeymoon!!!!!

Hello again! Not sure if you're still on here but I thought I'd let you know the good news anyway! We finally got our visas so we will be heading to Adelaide in April and will be booking flights sometime over the next couple of weeks. How are things in Adelaide? We are enjoying Christmas day over here and the Tia Maria coffees are aflowing! (if that's a word?) Hope to hear again from you soon. Can't wait to move!!! Jo

Re: New to Adelaide!!
Hey guys - That's us finally here. Been here since April 17th. We're both working now, thank goodness as it's soooo expensive!! $9 for a box of Special K cereal. I almost dropped to the floor, let me tell you! Anyways, despite everything being ridiculously overpriced, we're really enjoying it so far. We've been to several wineries, enjoyed the last few days of warm weather on the beach at Brighton and on Sunday there I saw my first Koala! We'd love to meet some new friends and catch up for a drink. Let us know if you fancy it. Saturday nights are good for us, or maybe sunday afternoon? Cheers, Jo (30, Teacher but Admin Assistant for now!) and Michael (31,Psych Nurse).

Hi Jojo, Me and my girlfriend have moved to Adelaide from the UK about a month ago, finding it okay just struggling with the social side of things also. Nice to meet up with some like minded people for drinks etc. Were both in our mid 20s, any day over the weekend is good for us.
