Hi Jan,

First of all congratulations on what you have achieved so far....losing 4 stone is amazing !! Well done.

I am sure you will get plenty of support on here from folks who are also trying to lose weight. I know a lot of people are trying do this before they have their medical....I was one of them !!! I still need to lose a bit more weight and we recently bought mountain bikes in an attempt to try and get fit. Its not easy losing weight but since I came to Australia in August I am hoping that the outdoor lifestyle will help !!

Good luck with your dieting...and if you ever want to chat just drop me a PM.

I too have lost 4 stone (approx) and still have 2/3 to go... I'll join you in some virtual exercise if you want to speed up your weight loss... I can recommend eating less...up to a point... but then I just revolt and splurge... too much lettuce makes me desparate...

I'm in the same boat. I've lost 4 stone and have about 1 1/2 to go. Well done on loosing 4 stones already it takes hard work determination (and sometimes tears) My next weigh in is Thursday. Are you doing it yourself or going to a club?

The best thing for winter is No Point soup it is so warming and filling in winter. I just make them up as I go. You make the stock from stock cubes and then add veggies and seasoning, herbs etc.

I go to weight watchers and follow their guide on 0 point Veg.

Oh Dave - as if it was as simple as that! But alot of eating can be contributed to emotions. If it was as simple as cutting out junk, we'd all be size 8's and as happy as a pig in shhh*mud*

I am doing Weight Watchers Jan, I take it so are you? Well done on your weight loss so far I have vowed to not be the weight I am now when flying back to Oz. I cannot stand being on a plane that long and feeling so awkward.

Well done to you!

Actually it is as easy as that. Do not eat any rubbish food and realise that this is a for good change. There is never any going back to eating junk. Otherwise you just yo-yo diet with little result. I'm sorry to sound patronising and realise that it is hard making that shift in life attitude but it simply has to be done. For good. Period.

I speak from experience and weight 12st now with 10-11% body fat. I used to weigh in at 20st and god knows how much fat. Thats 8 stone. Thats a small person!!!!

I run three times a week 5-10km and row for an hour on other days and go to the gym 5 days a week for weights. My next ambition is a triathlon now Im in Australia. I am boring when it comes to food and dont eat anything that I cant tell whats in it. This from the bloke who was a couch monster fat arse.

Do I enjoy exercises and eating a clean diet ? No way! Its bloody hard work and horrible if slightly addictive after a while. The end result and goal is the thing worth attaining. Once you are there you have to stay there so you may as well just get your head wrapped around the fact this is a life change.

Congratulations to those who have lost weight but realise that without correct exercise and diet frankly its not worth bothering. Just bite the bullet and go for it - only you can make you the person you want to be. Nobody else. Need some inspiration ? - put on a swimsuit and look in the mirror. Thats what you will look like on a beach :scared: always worked for me!

Since coming to Oz I've discovered the benefits of power walking. EVERYone does it here. You'll always see people power walking on the beach, in parks, along the river at lunchtime, to work etc.
I now walk to work (at a decent speed) every day - 40mins there and 40 mins back.
It's extremely easy to fit into your every day life (though admittedly the warm weather makes it more attractive!) and I feel so much better for it.
I try getting to the gym a couple of times a week too but if I don't manage it I know I'm at least getting decent exercise every day through walking.
It's tempting to think walking isn't proper exercise but it is, as long as you go at a good pace and don't dawdle
Now I just have to learn to lay off the and I'll be super fit
