Need lots of questions answered please
Hi
I have family in Australia who are now permanant residents. They are happy to sponsor us in on either PV or CPV (not sure which we can afford to go for yet)
I am female age 57, husband is 55, if we were to go for the CPV hopefully we would get in before I am due to retire. I understand the 2 year self sufficiancy side but would I ever be eligable for UK equivalent of Old Age Pension if I was living in Australia by then? Thanks

There is no equivalent to the old age pension in Australia.
There is an age pension, which you could get after 10 years residence (as an Australian permanent resident or citizen) but this is means tested.
You may be able to claim a limited pension from the UK, but it will not be indexed. You can also claim your private and employer pensions.

Thanks thats cleared that up. Im not planning to retire we are hoping to start a small business (market garden or hobby farm) but was wondering because we have limited funds to bring if the worst happened after the 2 year self sufficiency period what would we live on if there is no financial assistance until after 10 years

Yes people still get their UK pension, but I believe it is frozen at the time you first claim it or something (please check that I am not entirely sure of the details, there has been a court case on the subject recently). And of course you would be at the mercy of fluctuating FX rates.
