Default Need a document witnessing

We have to sign a declaration for our house sale stating that we have had no problems with the drainage system since we have lived there, this declaration needs witnessing by a Solicitor or Commissioner for oaths or Notary Public - anyone any ideas who is acceptable in Australia?

This link may help .... or if you pop into your local Shire they will/should have a list and be able to point you in the right direction.

In South Australia, at least, you just head into any public library and they will tell you when the JP is on duty 'to sign' and the best thing is that it's completely free!
Can't say for other States though, sorry!

We have volunteer JPs at our local shopping centre 2 days per week.

However, I do understand that some things do need to be signed by a Commissioner for oaths, rather than a JP.
When we sold our house, some of the paperwork could not be done by a JP, and we needed to see a solicitor.
