I need a second car for three months, options I know about are hiring and buying and selling a banger. Neither particularly appeals.

I think you have covered most basis by buying or hiring a second car. If these don't appeal then there is not much left on the legal side of life

You are limited to the options you describe.... work out the costs of hiring for that period, and then weigh them againsts the costs/hassles of buying/selling e.g. a 5yr old car.

ps - It doesn't have to be a banger.

I have nothing to offer this thread, but just had to post after I saw the picture in the previous post.

"Killer" Hales is the record top scorer in Charlton Athletic's history and one of my boyhood heroes.

As far as I remember he did a year or two down the road at the other Kent club.
