what about eight mile plains, seems handy for the two main roads and gold coast, any bad press i shud consider?

Brisbane is a geographically big place. There are some less desirable suburbs that may suit the more adventurous.

Other suburbs can have a both good bits and not so good bits just a few streets away. It really is a look for yourself jobbie after you narrow down the area choices.

Eg Logan generally has a poor reputation. That is generally (ducks head on this one) true for one side of the highway, while the other side has close to $million houses.

Pick an area that is convenient for work and rent there first. Then explore the city for yourself.
