After three years here, I've come to the conclusion that Australian houses are some of the ugliest in the developed world.

Who mentioned the CBD ?
However, the OP did say Turramurra, so how about this in Turramurra for $850pw
$740 pw only gets this in Turramurra:
or $560 pw in Turramurra

I pay $67 for a internet+mobile phone package+ Telstra landline (that I never use but forced to keep).
It is ADSL2+ with 30GB for $40 and mobile phone charges of $15 allows me $300 worth of calls every month (from TPG). Telstra line rental charges are $22 a month.
I use the mobile for all my local calls and still get lots of credit left over. My dd also has a mobile connection (pre-paid) - $ 15 - valid for 6 months. Once she starts school and makes friends and consequently lots of texts and calls - might have to give her my mobile

Great thanks for that!!
I will have a look at Coles website and see what their costs are. We spend about €150 per week in Dublin and it is expensive here. We usually just buy breads, fruit, veg and meats and then whatever cleaning and toiletries we need. We rarely buy packaged or processed food as that can be very expensive (and crap).
We tend to shop around here and we have Aldi which is good for cleaning supplies. You have Aldi there right?
Are markets cheaper there. It varies here, some of the farmers markets here can be costly as it is organic/artisian etc... But some of the produce can be very cheap too.

Contents Insurance - We paid around $120 for the year.
Petrol - We use one car, my wife drives around locally, shopping, gym, taking kids swimming etc at we put in about $30 per week.
Food - We have 2 kids and our food bill is around $300 -$350 per week. That is buying just what we need, nothing extravagent.
Phone/Internet - $39.95 per month for broadband 10GB, plus $10 phone, no bill for calls yet.
Electricity - $200 for first month! Watch the air con.
Car insurance - $300 for the year.
Mobile - My wife has a pre pay phone and $10-15 only lasts 4 or 5 days. It is very expensive i.e. 35c connection fee then 80c per minute.

Re: My living expenses calculations??? Are they accurate or not????
Although I am in Perth and get no assistance with childcare costs I am charged
$60 for a full day
$40 for a half day
They take care of everything with the exception of nappies which I supply.
The big childcare centres like ABC are higher in cost at around $80 for a day.
Lots of centres here in Perth do not do half days but not sure if Sydney is the same.
Good luck!

In our area for childcare we pay $53 a day I think, we got a slight discount for using two days a week. We get no rebates (0%) back from Centrelink so that's the full cost, this is because my husband is over the threshold to get subsidies (fair enough).
I would also check on the half day thing. When I checked around our area no one did it, if it was available I would have went with half days instead of full.
I've heard Sydney is more expensive though for Childcare so you'd have to check the rates around the areas you'll be in.

Re: My living expenses calculations??? Are they accurate or not????
We paid about $500 for our last quarterly electricity bill (Oct - Dec) but we did have company staying for two of those three months, so I guess we were using more than usual. We paid about $1200 per car for car insurance (on a new Ford Territory and an older Holden Commodore) but then you have to pay CTP (compulsory third party) which we paid today for the Commodore at $468 and rego which was again paid today at $406. Hubby fills up his car once every two weeks, costs about $65 for two weeks to and from work (45km per day, five days a week).
Food shopping we find expensive at the moment. I probably spend $300 a week for four of us (me, hubby, a nearly four year old, and an almost two year old), but I haven't been well for a while so I have just been going to Woolworths (seven minutes drive) rather than driving much further to the nearest fruit and veg barn/butchers etc. Before I was poorly, I used to get the shopping for about $175-$200, because I planned meals and drove places to find the best prices for things. We don't eat packaged/processed foods and I cook from scratch every evening. It can also be cheaper to buy things like shower gel/shampoo/big tins of coffee/washing powder from discount pharmacys which I haven't done for a while either, so that has probably bumped our bills up a bit too.
