My first arachnid encounter!
Half dozing on the sofa, i look to my left, starring back at me is a decent sized spider must have been almost the size of a cd.
I mention to my dad look at the size of that bugger as I get to my feet desperately looking for something to splat the sod with, with that dad takes his thongs (flip flops) off hands one to me and he keeps one himself.
10 seconds of mad flipping and flopping it was all over.
The poor buggar didnt stand a chance. We had a moments silence, and then a burial for the little sod.
He (the spider) is now in the great web in the sky, RIP.

Re: My first arachnid encounter!
One of my first experiences here on a holiday with some Aussie mates, a large spider dropped down from a web and hung three foot from where I sat. I was petrified and it was only about the size of a childs hand not a CD!
The aussie friend removed her thongs splattered the spider between them with a large whack - then laughed shouting 'wider spider best kind'
