Must read: Airfares from OZ to UK
More bad news :( for those of us living here who wish to take trips to UK to see family.
Taxes reach the $1000 on TOP of the airfare. http://www.theage.com.au/news/news/a...770909129.html Apologies for the cut and paste but this affects so many of us:( |

Re: Must read: Airfares from OZ to UK
We have booked a holiday to Thailand in December. Got a call from the Agent the other day advising us to pay the airfare element in full as we will have a $1000 surcharge added if it is not paid by Wednesday.

I am going home in Sept. I did the rounds and was completely flexible with my dates but still ended up paying 2300. One tip though is Finn Air - for some reason their tax is several hundred dollars less than other airlines.

The taxes/levies/charges will probably be the same. It is possibly that not many people know of or use them, or their aircraft are smaller or older/or they codeshare, so their initial fare, less taxes etc, is cheaper to get business.
As an example, if you book a Qantas or BA flight through American Airline's website, you'll pay AA's fuel surcharges, not Qantas'. You win some, you lose some. Cheers Steve |
Re: Must read: Airfares from OZ to UK
Is it not possible to get someone to book the flights from the UK that way you may get a saving?
I'm sure this may have been asked before but I can't remember the answer  |
